PONTANIA GALLARUM
Fig 1
DESCRIPTION: The causal agent here is a sawfly that is seen on the wing from May to August. A small mark on the upper leaf surface that is slightly reddish and near to the central vein will give away the presence of this hairy, orbicular gall found on the lower side. The gall is green or reddish but appears paler due to the pale hairs covering the surface. DISTRIBUTION: Frequent throughout. HABITAT: In damp areas and hedgerows where Willow is present.
